The Masters

Last Fall, Steve was notified that he was awarded four tickets to the Tuesday practice round at the 2015 Masters Tournament.  We were so excited, and made hotel reservations right away.  We extended invitations to our parents, but both turned us down so we went alone.  It ended up being a great little getaway (thanks to my parents for staying with the kids).  Since I had never been to Augusta before, Steve was anxious to show me all around.

We started off watching some of the players warm up at the practice tees.  However, once we realized that Tiger and Mark O'Meara had teed off earlier, we took off in search of them.  We followed them a couple of holes, but then hung out and watched Phil and others play.

Since it was an overcast morning, it wasn't too hot.  However, the sun managed to burn through the clouds early afternoon, and quickly we were sweating.  We cooled off with a cold beer and some shade under a tree, but like most didn't last long.

Of course we made a stop at their pro shop to buy some items.  Since Steve lost half of his wardrobe when he moved to Black & Veatch, he wanted a couple of new golf shirts.  He also got a new athletic shirt, t-shirt and visor.  Since they sell such good looking items, we bought some gifts for our family too.  Thankfully they had a bag check so we didn't have to carry our bags around with us all day.

We broke for lunch, and I had to have one of their infamous pimento cheese sandwiches.  It was just as good and cheap as everyone promised!  Sadly around 3:00, the clouds started to move in and it looked like rain.  We couldn't check radar since we had to leave our phones in the car, but when the sky gets is a dead giveaway.  So we picked up our items from bag check and started walking to the car  It didn't take long before the bottom fell out and we were running!  By the time we finally got into the car, we were soaked from head to toe.  It was worth it though....we had a great time!
