When I look back on my life, I can recall handful of friends over my lifetime who have made an impact on my life. They stand out in my memories of growing up (which says a lot because my memory is turning to mush). Some were friends from my early elementary school days, which lasted through grade school, high school, and adulthood. Others were friends I made in college, or in my early 20s, who are still friends of mine. These relationships formed me! Of course I continue to make new friends, but it is these old, endearing friendships that I want to focus on here. When you are young, and growing up, you learn who to trust, who you get along with best, and how to be a good friend to others.

As a parent, I am now watching Bennett (and the boys) establish friendships. Some have been cultivated by my relationship with the mother, and a few were initiated by my child. This blog is about Bennett and her sweet friendship with Mary Caroline. This sweet little girl transferred into Shades Cahaba in the 4th grade from Atlanta and Bennett found her. They formed an instant friendship!

| My sweet Bible Club from SCE - Dec 2017 |
During the 4th grade, I formed a Bible Club for the all of the g
irls of the grade. Mary Caroline and Bennett were there weekly, and sat with her each always (all the way through 5th grade Bible Club). These girls introduced us parents, and formed such a sweet and endearing friendship. Bennett has always been a kind-hearted, thoughtful person, and she met her match with MC. They always thought of each other on vacations, coming home with little tokens, never forgetting a birthday, and face-timing each other often.

Their friendship is one that never seems to tire, and they can spend days together without fighting. In fact, Bennett even went on a long weekend trip to MC's grandparent's lake house this past memorial day. As they get ready to enter middle school together, they have planned to show up at the same time, so they can get lockers near one another. They don't have everything in common, but they certainly have enough....a love for cooking, shopping, American Girl dolls, and making slime!
In the Fall of 5th grade, they had a little "incident" where there was a misunderstanding. They both came home from school in tears, and didn't know how to handle it. When Bennett couldn't fall asleep at night, I encouraged her to call Mary Caroline to discuss things. They both apologized to each other, and have not had another issue since.
