Brown Liquor

These three Mizerany boys have several things in common, but Alabama football and brown liquor are definitely the big ones!  They always have a great time when they are together, and lucky for them they have had two nights together the past month.  Mid January, they all attended a fundraiser for MS called "Bourbonham."  They had a great time together, saw tons of people they knew, sampled several new bourbons, and ate some great BBQ from a new place opening soon.

Two weeks later, they went to another bourbon tasting at the Grand Bohemian Hotel.  This tasting was a Christmas present from Maria and Tyler to the three of them.  Once again, they had a great time together, cutting up and telling stories.

Since the 3rd grade, Bennett has had to put forth a lot more effort towards school.  It isn't that she isn't smart, it just takes her longer, especially with math.  However, she is persistent and has stuck with her studying.  Now that she is in middle school, her work load and expectations are even more.  But Bennett is doing great!  She comes home from school and immediately gets started on her homework.  Sometimes she has several hours worth of studying, but she doesn't give up.  All of her hard work has paid off though now, she has received all A's and only 1 B for the first 18 weeks of school!!  Today she was recognized for her stellar grades!  We are so proud of Bennett and the hard work that she has put forth since starting 6th grade.  Keep up the good work!!

A Honor Roll for first semester!

Justin Timberlake!

Over the years, Steve and I have enjoyed seeing all of our favorite country singers in concert, but Steve doesn't really care for the hip-hop/pop music that I like, so I always need to make alternate plans if I want to see someone special.  When Justin Timberlake started touring, I knew I wanted to see him.  I have always enjoyed his music, he's an awesome dancer, funny and easy on the eyes.

When I started asking around, few people wanted to pay for one of his concert tickets, especially decent seats.  Thankfully Steve was able to find a partner in crime for me, Courtney Passarella.  Last June for my birthday, Steve surprised me with a hotel reservation in Atlanta and a ticket to go see JT with Courtney and another mutual friend of ours, Susan.  However, Susan ended up backing out last minute due to a surgery that she needed, so Courtney asked a friend of hers from Atlanta to join us.

We drove over after we took all of our children to school, and arrived in time to grab a good lunch and do a little shopping.  We then checked into our hotel and freshened up before heading back out for our dinner.  After a nice leisurely dinner, we headed to the arena to see the concert.  We missed the majority of the opening act, so we grabbed a cocktail and headed for our seats.

The stage that Justin used was very large and zig zagged through the floor.  Fortunately for us, JT spent the majority of the time on our end of the arena, and our seats were low and terrific for viewing.  He had about 8-10 dancers, and watching them all do their thing was so much fun!  After a 3 hour set, he quit and we hurried to our uber.  Courtney was thinking fast, and immediately ordered a pizza to be delivered to our room.  Eating the pizza in our pjs in our bed was the perfect ending to our night!

The next day we slept in and then packed up our stuff and went to a nearby restaurant with good reviews for a quick lunch before heading back to Birmingham.  It was a quick day and a half, but the perfect break!

Happy 84th Birthday Mimi!

The matriarch of the Mizerany family didn't want to celebrate her birthday, even though she bakes an individual cake for every other person in our family when it is their birthday.  Of course, we didn't want to let it go by without some form of a celebration, so Uncle Dan planned something casual.  Chinese take-out at their house!

Since it was a last minute plan, not everyone could make it.  However, Mimi got her own birthday cake, and she was happy!  Happy 84th Birthday Mimi!!
