One Week Old Already

Things are going surprisingly well so far! We had a couple tough nights when she first came home, where one of us kept getting up every 30 minutes, but the last two nights have been great. She has only gotten up once to eat and have her diaper changed, and then she goes back to sleep until 5:30. Yesterday she was much more alert. In fact, she was up for almost 2 hours after first awakening, and just got passed around from mommy, daddy, nene and poppy.

Of course we all love to admire her and keep telling her how beautiful she is, so I hope she doesn't become too spoiled. She is just a little angel. Daddy was supposed to return to work yesterday, but after a morning away from her -he returned for lunch and never went back. I know we all need to settle into our normal routines, but it is too hard right now. I guess being new parents, we just can't get enough of her. All we do is hold her and take photos of her. Steve went off to work again this morning, and is going to try to work a full day this time.

We have enjoyed the past week spending time with family, but this morning we said goodbye to Poppy, who returned to Illinois. Last night he enjoyed holding her, but I guess watching her sleep, made him a little sleepy and now we know where she gets the sleeping with her mouth open.

Bennett Comes Home!

It has been a busy day! Bennett and I both were checked over once again by our doctors this morning, and after getting a clean bill of health - we got all packed up so we could go home. She is a little jaundice now, but her pediatrician expects her to be back to normal in no time.

We had to get her all dressed up in a new pink dress for the ride home. And since she had a full head of hair, everyone thought it would be cute to have a pink bow. She was quite the sport with the whole thing.

We had a short ride home, and then Nene, Poppy, Shelby and Spencer were there to greet us. Everyone was excited to welcome her home - even her 4 legged siblings (see the smiles on their faces). Shelby gave her little kisses on her feet, and Spence just sniffed her carseat. And of course...Bennett slept through the whole thing.

She is doing very well, but due to her young age - she sleeps more than anything. In fact, we have to wake her to feed her, and even then she falls asleep during the process. I know we should cherish these quiet moments, but we just love to admire her when she is wide-eyed and looking around.

In fact, one of our highlights of the day was giving her a bath at home. Since I get to bond with her through nursing, we decided it would be Daddy's job to bath her so he could bond with her then. She loved her first bath, and didn't cry once.

We'll report more...very soon.

Bennett Clegg Mizerany!!

We cannot be happier to announce the arrival of our precious angel - Bennett Clegg! She blessed us on Wednesday afternoon at 4:21, weighing in at just 5 lbs 13 oz and measuring 19 inches long. We are both doing well, and hoping to leave tomorrow sometime.

We had our family present on Wednesday to meet her, and since then -many visits by friends and co-workers. Bennett has slept through most of it, but we have been documenting it all for her with photos.

Home Again!

After yet another ultrasound this morning, we were happy to see the amniotic fluid increase a little more, now 9 cm. Since it wasn't in the 10-12 range like my doctor wanted, I didn't expect to go home - even though my blood pressure has been more stable. In fact, I choked down another hospital lunch before I heard from her. She finally blessed me with her presence this afternoon and let me go home!

I obviously couldn't be happier. However, we are still playing the wait and see game. We have another appointment on Wednesday morning. If my fluids drop to 6 cm or below, then she will schedule a c-section for that night. But, if they are in the same range - then we'll just play it by ear. I also have to monitor my blood pressure daily, and if there are any changes with that - then everything can change.

So, overall - we don't really know a whole lot more. Though our families aren't happy to have me home - my dogs and I are. In fact, Shelby told me that she would be more than happy to stay on bedrest with me!

A Quick Field Trip!

Today my doctor finally came around some and let me out of my room for 15 minutes! It was my biggest adventure of the past week. I have been missing my dogs terribly, so I knew immediately how I wanted to spend my free time....outside and with my doggies!

Steve has recorded them for me at home a couple of times (I know you all think I am pathetic), but it has been extremely enjoyable and comforting to watch. However, seeing their little tails wag when they greeted me today made me even happier and gave me the boost I needed to make it here a few more days.

In fact, today was also a special day for us because Michelle Mizerany, Carol Ann Juliano and Penny Ferguson hosted an absolutely lovely shower for us. Due to my situation, Steve went in my place - and was quite the trooper with all of the ladies. Being the caring and thoughtful person that he is, he arranged for me to watch the shower on a webcam, while there was another one present for the guests to see me. We once again received some fabulous items, and we thank everyone who attended.

We have another ultrasound tomorrow morning where we will hopefully get some more answers and find out if baby Miz is arriving this week. Though if everything looks good, I may be discharged and she'll just monitor the baby and me every couple of days. So please continue with your prayers, and keep checking the blog for more updates.

My Old Friend Visits!!

Today my life got a little sweeter...my old friend visited me in the hospital....TIVO!!! Since I still have the original TIVO which only holds 20 hours, it was smoking at home and completely loaded. So Steve had the bright idea of bringing it here so I could catch up on my shows, especially since all of the season finales are on now. I couldn't be more thankful. This past week has been painfully hard watching...gulp...live TV. I honestly haven't watched live TV in years, and I now recall what a waste of time it is to watch. With almost half of the show's dedicated time being spent on commercials - it is amazing how much time is wasted.

Since there is absolutely nothing on TV during the weekends, except old movies and sports, I plan to clear my TIVO off by Sunday night. Then I want Steve to take it home and hook it back up so it can get some of the shows I watch on channels not offered by the hospital. Not to mention, my mother is a little upset that she can't tivo her soap operas next week (I converted her a couple of years ago).

For those of you who still don't have digital video recorders (DVRs) - you are missing out BIG TIME!
