It didn't take long for Steve to be asked to help coach....the stern voice, the knowledge of the game, and the need for an extra set of hands is all it took! Walker was thrilled to have his daddy there at most practices and all games too. With Preston playing baseball too, we couldn't both be present for all games, but we certainly tried.
The head coach still shifted kids around in various positions, but Walker typically played in the infield, almost always connected with the ball and got on base, and seemed to really start figuring out the game.
Sadly, with the coronavirus gaining momentum during the Spring, the season ended mid March....after only a handful of games (ALL WINS THOUGH). Thankfully, Mimi, Papa and Uncle Dan were all able to see Walker in action during the two weeks his team played.
We all hated to see it all end, and had a lot of optimism that the season would pick back up in April (but I'm writing this a month late), and it doesn't. Walker isn't giving up though....he is still playing catch with Pres and Steve in the backyard and hitting balls of the tee. He so wants to please his Daddy, so I know he will get after it next Fall!
